ABOUT

Setare Arashloo

Setare Arashloo is a painter by training, but uses an array of media including animation, video and installation to investigate, explore and expand on issues that are very personal while engaging larger social issues. She has been working with Workers Art Coalition as a documentarian and exhibited the video at Queens Museum. Another product of her collaboration with musicians and sound designers was an animation which was screened as part of a music performance at Tenth and Gibson, Adelaide, Australia.
Setare was born and raised in Tehran, graduated with a BA in Painting from the University of Tehran, and received a post baccalaureate certificate in Fine Art at Maryland Institute College of Art. She is currently pursuing her MFA at Queens College, CUNY, New York and works professionally as a freelance animator and editor. She also teaches art and language at bilingual school programs. Her works have been exhibited in Iran, US, Afghanistan and Australia. Setare believes that her collaborative art project and individual art practices inform and inspire each other and help artistic and conceptual dialogues shape in different and enriching level.
